"I ate my homework!" LHS Ag Teacher Chris Estrada shares that his LHS BBQ Team took 6th place out of 21 teams when they competed in South Lake over the weekend. They brought home a ribbon from this food science activity and qualified two more students to compete at the State level in May. Mr. Estrada currently has a total of 5 students going to state and LISD is proud to have this co-curricular opportunity that enables students to pave their way after high school! Mr. Estrada says, "this project-based learning opportunity It’s a different kind of team that teaches students about meat judging, the science of cooking and wood seasoning, and working through problems of heat and temperature to get the food just right, as well as learning focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and a few life lessons." LISD is hoping this keeps growing into something big!
