Culinary is Sweet!

It's Career & Technical Education Month, and LHS cannot think of a better way to celebrate than to brag about our Culinary Arts Classes. Khris Oaks' classes prepare students for a career after high school by teaching them a skill that they can use to make a living on their own or by working for a bakery! Mrs. Oaks' students prepared chocolate cakes for the Chocolate Fantasia Culinary competition event at the Texas Tech Frazier Alumni Pavilion and came away with many medals! Karma Mitchell designed her scarecrow and won 1st place for sweet bite, 1st place chocolate sculpture, Overall best sweet bite, and Best of Show Chocolate Sculpture! Lyric & Elie Muniz were awarded 1st place for chocolate sculpture, 2nd place for sweet bite, & 3rd place overall for chocolate sculpture with their Dragon creation. Dusty Dobson and Jared Hernandez earned a 2nd for chocolate sculpture & a 3rd small bite with their Castle cake. We are so proud of these kids and especially Khris Oaks and her ability to teach kids this awesome skill that will last a lifetime! Congratulations to everyone!
