LHS students in Mrs. Merribeth Gregory's Honors Biology Class were caught gathering soil and water samples at local Playa Lakes to gather information to study ecological succession. Simply put, ecological succession is the sequential process of rebuilding an ecosystem after a disaster. They gathered their samples, let them grow, and then studied the microorganisms under microscopes to determine the kind it was. They had to categorize what they found by the Playa Lake they found it from and will decide which ones are harmful and which are helpful.
