UIL Events Starting Up

LHS students attended a UIL Academics Fair to find a UIL Event that would interest them.  Mr. Scott Lawson and event coaches were on hand to recruit students by explaining what they would require to participate. There is a UIL academic contest for just about any student, from gregarious performers to thoughtful writers, from mathematicians to scientists. The study for these events goes hand-in-hand with coursework and makes students stronger readers, speakers, test-takers, and leaders. One coach stated, "students don't even realize the long-term effects from UIL competitions that help them be better at a career or in college studies after high school." A student said, "Being in UIL has presented me with the opportunity to experience not being home on  week nights, then dressing up in a suit and tie while heaving around  materials, only to arrive in a competition where I sat for 90 minutes to write, read, and speak in front of a crowd to bring home a little trophy or medal. And I had the best time of my life doing it!" LHS does not compete until March, but the event Coaches are starting preparations. If you want to help your child benefit from the taste of success, get them signed up at LHS! You're in the right place.
