University Tutors Scholarship Contest -

University Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write an essay in response to a monthly prompt.  Visitors to the University Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries.  The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by University Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.  Interested students can enter the contest here:

  • Eligibility:  US citizen, senior ranked in upper third (1/3) of graduating class, SAT minimum score of 1350 or ACT minimum score of 19, must enroll in a Texas college or university, must be involved in extracurricular and community activities, limit on other scholarships/financial aid

Baylor University-Carr P. Collins Scholars Program

Discover Card Tribute Award

  • Amount:  300 state scholarships of $2500; 10 national scholarships for $25,000.  Scholarships for high school juniors to use postsecondary education at a two/four year college as well as trade school

  • Eligibility:  Criteria for selecting winners includes:  special talents, overcoming an obstacle, community service and leadership.  Applicants must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher in the 9th and 10th grades
