SPC Offers Certificates and Credentials Courses

LHS students in Mr. Russell Hill's business classes had the opportunity to hear Dr. Jay Warnick speak. Dr. Warnick is the South Plains College Director of Continuing Education & Workforce Development! He told LHS students that they must go to college, but that if they don't think they want to go for 4 years, there are options. Dr. Warnick encouraged students to think differently about college. While he emphasized the benefits of a traditional 4-year degree, he also highlighted shorter pathways that prepare students for the workforce more quickly. With technological advancements reducing the number of available jobs, he stressed that employers will increasingly seek highly skilled, motivated employees. He introduced students to Certificates and Credentials Courses that are short and make them marketable for jobs upon completion. Did you know that you can earn your CNA certificate in 12 weeks' time at SPC and you will be employable at a hospital? Did you know that in 10 weeks at SPC you can be a phlebotomist and start work immediately? Did you know that SPC offers a Professional Truck Driving School, and did you know that you can earn your Drone Pilot's License at SPC? Thank you, Dr. Warnick, for advising our LHS students to take advantage of these courses after high school so they will be marketable employees in demand!
