Sutures Anyone?

Have you ever had stitches? Have you ever given sutures yourself? Our LHS students in Mrs. Merribeth Gregory's Anatomy and Physiology classes are learning this technique. These students were fortunate to have Mrs. Lindsey Brown visit their classes to help them learn this task. Mrs. Brown began by teaching students to tie the most common interrupted suture knots to close a wound. Students had to pay attention to detail, work with precision, and have a little patience. Then, with practice, they moved on to the simple continuous suture. What a wonderful and inspiring experience for the students! Hands-on activities like learning to tie sutures give students a real glimpse into medical careers and the skills required, which go far beyond what textbooks can teach. Mrs. Gregory and Mrs. Brown are providing more than just instruction; they’re sparking curiosity and giving students the confidence to explore healthcare professions like surgical technicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors. Did you learn this in High School? If we all did, we might have chosen a different path after graduation. Thank you, Mrs. Gregory and Mrs. Brown for engaging our students in the best of learning every single day! Video
