Governor Abbott Takes Notice

LHS is incredibly proud of the opportunities our P-TECH Welding Program provides students throughout the school year. Earlier this week, our P-TECH students had the honor of representing LHS at a special meeting with Governor Abbott at SPC. Governor Abbot highlighted the powerful impact of Career and Technical Education programs across the state, including the outstanding work happening right here in Levelland ISD! Through hands-on training, industry-based instruction, and real-world experiences, our welding (& other CTE) students are gaining valuable skills that open doors for their future. Whether they choose to continue their education or step directly into the workforce, these students are equipped with the knowledge, certifications, and confidence to succeed in high-demand careers. Governor Abbott was especially impressed with the strong earning potential available in the welding industry and the immediate opportunities our students can pursue after graduation. Programs like P-TECH Welding are a perfect example of how Levelland ISD is building a strong workforce pipeline and preparing students for successful, rewarding futures.
This success is made possible through the strong bridge LISD has built with South Plains College, giving students the opportunity to gain advanced knowledge, college credit, and real-world experience while still in high school. We also extend a sincere thank you to Dallas Pena and the Levelland Economic Development Center for their continued support, funding, and commitment to expanding opportunities for our students. Your investment is truly making a difference for the future workforce of our community!
