Tennis Finish

LHS Coach Braziel shares that the LHS fall tennis season has ended, with varsity falling to Shallowater and missing the playoffs by one match. He states, "At the beginning of the season, there were a lot of questions after 4 years with a group that finished with almost 1,200 individual wins. We were picked to finish 8th in our district, and no one knew exactly who would step up. From the start of June to today, you would not recognize this team, the growth as people and as players has been beyond amazing. We had two more seniors join the Century Club (Fabiola Hernandez, Daniela Perez-Garcia), and another senior break into the top ten in all-time individual wins (Reese Payton). They renewed a rivalry with a school the program hasn't beaten in nearly a decade. The team would finish 5th place in the district and have a winning record of 8-6." The JV finished their season too but unfortunately would come up just a little short in. He says, "The JV has battled through some tough matches with teams like Liberty and Andrews. They would finish the season with a 2-5 record, but it doesn't truly reflect the hard work and progress they made in the last few months." All that being said, "we still have our LMS team competing for the next couple of months. So please continue to support and cheer them on! They are growing quickly with an explosion of athletes, and the future of the program is extremely bright," says Braziel. Great job PACK tennis athletes. We are proud of you!
