Emotional Wellness Month

October is Emotional Wellness Month: You Matter! Sometimes the most important conversations are the hardest ones to have. Levelland High School freshmen heard a powerful message about suicide prevention and awareness from Carrie and Adrianna Timmons. Nine years ago, Carrie's 16-year-old son, Zane Morgan Timmons, died by suicide. Zane was a bright young man who was on track to graduate from LHS at the top of his class. Today, his family honors his memory by sharing his story and encouraging students to seek help and look out for one another.
This conversation reminds students that it's okay to not be okay, asking for help is a sign of strength, and no one should face life's challenges alone. Sometimes simply checking on a friend can make a difference! A school counselor, teacher, coach, parent, administrator, or trusted adult can help you. Students can also call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, anytime for free, confidential support.
We sincerely thank Carrie and Adrianna for their courage in sharing Zane's story. It was a privilege to have them speak to our freshmen and remind them that every life has value. At LISD, we want every student to feel supported, valued, and empowered to Find Their Place!
